Sola Flower Care
Crafted to Last: A Guide to Caring for Your Everlasting Blooms
Sola wood flowers are a beautiful reminder of the blessings in our lives, they never wither, and they never fade. While real flowers are fleeting, these handmade blooms are crafted to bring joy to you or a loved one for a lifetime.
Good stewardship keeps them looking as vibrant as the day they arrived. Think of your arrangement like a cherished book or a delicate painting; treat them right, and they will stay picture perfect forever. Here is how to care for your flowers.
💧 1. Keep Them High and Dry (No H2O!)
Real flowers love water, but sola wood flowers thrive on dry ground. Moisture is the only true enemy of your arrangement.
- The Risk: Sola wood naturally absorbs ambient humidity. Too much moisture traps dampness and can cause mold to grow.
- Best Placement: Display your arrangement in well-ventilated rooms. Skip the humid bathroom shelf or the rainy outdoor patio.
- Zero Watering Cans: Remind family members that these unique blooms never need a single drop of water.
☀️ 2. Keep them in direct light, unless…
We use latex paint to hand paint the petals of large and extra large Sola Flower arrangements eliminating the need to keep them out of direct sunlight. Our medium and small arrangements are sometimes hand painted with acrylic paints and could fade in direct sunlight over time. They can use a bit of shade.
All natural, un-dyed cream flowers handle the sun beautifully.
The UV Fade: Constant, direct sunlight acts like bleach over time, stealing your flower's vibrant, rich colors.
- Perfect Settings: Place your arrangements on dining tables, mantels, or shelves where they get indirect room light rather than sitting directly on a scorching, sunny windowsill.
🌬️ 3. A Gentle Breath of Air (The Dust Routine)
Just like your favorite home decor, a little dust may settle on the petals over time. Cleaning them is a peaceful, simple routine.
- The Cool-Air Trick: Grab a hair dryer, set it strictly to cool air on the low speed setting, and give your bouquet a quick 10-second blast from a foot away.
- The Soft Brush Method: For a delicate touch, use a clean, fluffy makeup brush to gently sweep away dust without altering the shape of the petals.
🌸 4. Sprinkle Your Blooms with Fragrance
One of the sweetest gifts of sola wood is its natural ability to hold onto beautiful aromas, filling your home with a welcoming scent.
- Where to Drop: Turn the flower over and place 1–2 drops of essential or fragrance oil onto the thick, raw wood base on the underside.
- Preserve the Dye: Keep the oils off the front of the dyed petals, as direct contact can occasionally spot or discolor the paint.
- Refresh Regularly: Reapply your favorite scent every few weeks to keep your home smelling like a peaceful garden.
📦 5. Storing Your Seasonal Decor
If you rotate your arrangements for different seasons, make sure your flowers are put away in a safe, breathable space.
- Let Them Breathe: Store your arrangements loosely in cardboard boxes or paper bags that allow air to circulate.
- The Plastic Trap: Never seal them in plastic storage bins. Plastic traps ambient air moisture, which invites mold to the party. Let your flowers breathe while they rest.
